So I know that I was only going to do dinner recipes and now my last two posts have not been dinner meals. However I bought a blender and have become obsessed with smoothies since beginning this project so I couldn't help myself! Part of the reason I love them is because they are great to take to school. I make them the night before, put them in the freezer in protein shake bottles, and then put one in my bad in the morning. Around mid morning its has defrosted enough for me to start drinking it. This is one of my favorite smoothie recipes that I have found so far. I decided to use raspberries instead of cherries because they were on sale :) I also added some XM+ to my smoothie. This is a product that my mom introduced me to; it is essentially a powder packed full of vitamin and nutrients found in Moringa leaves. It gives me energy and curves my appetite. The only downside is that I hate the taste, but when I add it to a delicious smoothie I can't taste it! I have learned the perfect order to add my ingredients to the blender for maximum effectiveness
1. put juice in first
2. powders
3. yogurt and fresh fruit/veggies
4. frozen fruit
5. ice
I also learned to buy frozen fruit when it is on sale because it can be a bit pricey. I also like to stock up at Costco so its always on hand. Next I want to learn how to make coffee or chocolate smoothies for desert or a indulgent afternoon snack :)
